A 60-day journey through the Australian Coast was terminated following the fatal incident of an senior female passenger who was abandoned by the ship on a remote island.

The passenger had been hiking on the remote island with fellow passengers from the vessel, but separated from the group for a pause. The ship sailed away leaving her and returned after some time after the crew realised the lady was not present.

A large-scale rescue mission found her remains the following day.

Investigative bodies are examining the event, alongside investigators and the state coroner.

Head of the shipping company stated that guests and staff on the ship were told that the rest of the cruise had been cancelled due to the "sad loss and earlier technical problems".

In a statement, he further stated that passengers would be provided a complete reimbursement, and said the operator was working "to arrange the travel back of the passengers via private aircraft".

Authorities also published an revised announcement, and said they had "provided a order to the Master" banning any additional guests from entering the liner.

The official said that they would inspect the liner in the Australian city upon its coming back.

The liner first departed Cairns on 24 October, and was only 48 hours into the journey at the moment of the senior passenger's death. The tropical location was the opening port on the journey.
