Former Physician Faces Sexual Assault Charges Against Thirty-Eight Individuals in His Care
Prosecutors have stated that a ex- physician has been charged with committing assaults involving 38 victims who were under his care.
The Grave Allegations
Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of dozens of sexual offences – some of which involve some against children younger than 13 – between 2017 to 2021.
A senior CPS official said, “Legal teams have diligently worked to support a detailed and complex police inquiry, carefully reviewing the available evidence to determine that there is a strong case to bring the case to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”
Scope of the Investigation
The charges come after what investigators called a “detailed inquiry” into alleged assaults at two hospitals: the Royal Stoke university hospital and a facility in Dudley.
The defendant will appear at the local magistrates' court on January 20th.
Breakdown of Charges
The charging documents said the 45 sexual offences he is charged with:
- Fifteen counts of sexual assault.
- 17 counts of assault by penetration.
- 9 counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- Three counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
- One count of attempting to assault by penetration.
