HBO's It Spinoff Debuts Second Ahead of Schedule on HBO's Digital Service

Fans are eagerly awaiting for the Stephen King adaptation the Derry series, that's been receiving positive feedback and weaving in themes from other Stephen King works. Now, the broadcaster has revealed that the second installment will arrive early, scheduled ideally for the spookiest night.

Schedule Change Information

Beginning on October 31 at 12 a.m. Pacific Time, episode two of Welcome to Derry will launch on the streaming service, ahead of its traditional TV airing. The remaining installments of the series run will continue to air on the weekend on HBO and HBO Max, building toward the season finale on the 14th of December.

Series Overview

Taking place within the Derry mythology, It: Welcome to Derry is inspired by the original story while building upon the world brought to life by director Andy Muschietti in It and It Chapter Two. The first It movie highlighted kids and teens confronting supernatural evils, making it appropriate that the series continues that tradition. Yet, the first installment of the HBO series shows it set out to increase the tension, offering even more intense scares than the movies and creating a dark atmosphere for the upcoming episodes.

Story World and Concepts

Taking place in the 1960s, the series features a fresh cast of parents and youngsters living in a outwardly charming locale concealing a sinister core. The town operates on a vicious, repeating pattern—defined by aggression, prejudice, and paranormal events, as a terrifying being reappears each 27-year cycle. While the series might appear like it strays too near to the cinematic adaptations at first, what differentiates the streaming show is its dual perspective—told from the eyes of both children and adults at the same time. The kids remain highly exposed to It's terror, but the adults also face dealing with their individual fears born from local discrimination and hidden paranormal elements.

The series airs on Halloween at 12 a.m. Pacific Time.
