I will overwhelm 'legitimate fighter' Paul - Anthony Joshua

Anthony Joshua and Jake Paul face-off

The British boxer will face Jake Paul in an eight round contest which will be streamed in real-time on the streaming platform.

Briton Anthony Joshua said he will "dominate completely" the American and "overpower" his opponent as the two fighters met personally to build hype for the upcoming bout.

Former two time unified title holder Joshua faces social media star turned fighter Paul - in what is, by the numbers, a massive uneven pairing - at Miami's venue on December 19th.

Boxer's Mentality

"I'm going to break his face and hurt his body. My goal is to show I'm superior," the British boxer, 35, declared.

"I plan to overwhelm him. That's a fighter's mentality.

"I'm going to genuinely try to cause him pain. That's my goal."

Respectful Interaction

Despite those words, a composed Joshua and internet personality Jake Paul - usually recognized for his showmanship - were respectful and remained civil with each other.

Jake Paul instead attacked ex Joshua's opponent Francis Ngannou and described him as "a joke" after Ngannou rejected a match opportunity.

Taking Aim at Fury

Joshua, at the same time, took aim at British opponent Tyson Fury - and rejected a £1m bet 'The Gypsy King' states he will put on a Paul victory.

"Jake Paul is better than Tyson Fury - he's present here," the boxer stated.

"I respect him for that."

Serious Opponent

Despite saying he intends to damage his opponent, Anthony Joshua chose not to speak negatively about his opponent's fighting skills.

"Jake is a legitimate boxer," he said.

Paul's History

Paul - who first rose to fame on the Disney Channel - has mainly boxed mixed martial artists or declining opponents since entering professional boxing.

He lost to Briton Fury in 2023.

Commercial Attraction

However, the inexperienced fighter remains one of the sport's largest financial successes, regularly earning massive financial rewards.

Prediction and Belief

The 28-year-old predicted a knockout win in round four or five and stated he would derail the long-awaited Joshua–Fury fight, which is apparently being planned for 2026.

"The next fight will be me versus Tyson Fury next year," Paul declared.

Size Difference

As both boxers met for the usual confrontation, with their size difference evident, it drove home just how improbable this entire matchup is - and how astonishing it is that the bout is really going ahead.
