Israelis have assembled across the country to commemorate two years since the Hamas-conducted offensive on October 7th, 2023, as discussions advanced in Egypt over an end to the war in Gaza.

The assault resulted in more than 1,200 people losing their lives and 251 others abducted back to Gaza as prisoners. It was the most deadliest day for Jews since the World War II.

Israel answered by beginning a military offensive in Gaza which has claimed over 67,000 people, according to the territory's Hamas-run health ministry. Its statistics are seen as accurate by the United Nations and other international bodies.

"The bloodthirsty adversaries have hit us hard, but they have not defeated us," the leader stated on Tuesday.

He also promised to "accomplish all the aims of the war: the homecoming of all the abducted, the elimination of the Hamas government and the promise that Gaza will never again pose a threat to Israel".

Commemorative Ceremonies Across Israel

The government authorities postponed state memorials until mid-October - after the end of the religious holiday season - but ceremonies still occurred throughout the country on Tuesday.

A commemorative event for the families of Israelis who died in the Hamas attack was organized in Tel Aviv. Arranged by the victims' relatives, it was broadcast throughout Israeli TV networks.

Some time earlier, a moment of silence was held throughout the country.

Negotiation Talks in Egypt

Simultaneously, the conflicting parties' negotiating teams gathered in the Egyptian Red Sea resort of the Egyptian city for a continuing round of mediated discussions to examine the terms of the agreement.

A prominent Palestinian official knowledgeable about the talks said that an night meeting of indirect talks began at 19:00 Cairo time.

The source said the morning session finished without tangible results, due to conflicting views over the proposed Israeli retreat arrangements from Gaza and over guarantees Hamas wants to make certain Israel does not resume combat after the first phase of the arrangement.

He added that the talks are "challenging and have not yet deliver any major advancement," but pointed out that facilitators are working hard to narrow the disparities between the both parties.

Critical Issues in Negotiations

  • An enduring ceasefire
  • The trade of the captives still detained by Hamas for detainees from Gaza
  • The pullout of Israeli forces from Gaza
  • Measures for humanitarian aid distribution
  • After-conflict management of the region

Citizen Sentiment

In Tel Aviv's public square earlier, 29-year-old a woman - whose family member endured the attack on the Nova music festival, where 378 people were murdered and numerous more were taken hostage by Hamas gunmen - shared: "No location appears as home now and until all the hostages come back no one will have peace of mind."

"Once we see all home once more, we can relax again. Then we can begin to rebuild," she continued.

In front of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's residence in Jerusalem, people assembled to demonstrate their solidarity for the loved ones of the captives. Israel says forty-eight continue in confinement in Gaza, approximately twenty of whom are considered to be living.

Demonstrator Atalia Regev explained: "We need do whatever arrangement necessary for the abducted to return. But we truly desire guarantees that we will be secure."

Research now regularly indicate that around the majority of Israeli citizens want the hostilities to end in return for the release of the hostages.

Gaza Circumstances

At the location of the gathering, those paying respects assembled to remember the victims.

From that location, the sound of Israeli air strikes and artillery could be heard just a few kilometres away in Gaza, where witnesses reported the heavy Israeli shelling continued.

In the main city, bombardments were noted in the early hours of that day in the west side Tal al-Hawa, Rimal and zone neighbourhoods and in the eastern area of Sheikh Radwan, as well Shati refugee camp to the northwest.

"When the night comes, the fear comes with it," evacuated Gaza City resident a mother, whose young son was killed by an Israeli air strike last year, shared.

"My family are afraid of the attacks. Throughout the evening we are sleeping together, embracing, notably my youngest child who rests his head on me throughout the night."

"Every second we look at the updates to see the situation. And I'm worried that this halt will not be finalized and that the war will resume to us."

Health Situation

Al-Shifa hospital in the urban area reported it had received the corpses of half dozen people by the midday, including a trio who died in an Israeli bombing in the southern al-Sabra neighbourhood.

Nasser hospital in the south region of the city indicated additional dead people had been delivered. An individual was lost his life by Israeli soldiers while looking for help to the south region, medics stated.

The region's health ministry said twenty-five of the {territ
