Adam Wharton A debut start for his country. Slightly sloppy on the ball however his inswinging corners were a threat. An effective game manager available to the coach to call upon against teams who drop deep. Cautioned for a rash tackle. 6

The midfielder Deliveries from corners and free kicks were dangerous. Enjoyed freedom to roam in left midfield only to be offside as the pass came in front of goal. Given a well-earned rest after an hour. 6/10

The star midfielder Operated in a high spot out wide while also put in the hard yards. Displayed flashes of quality and dragged an effort over. Replaced in the closing stages by Rogers, his rival, after receiving a caution. 7/10

Jarrod Bowen Had England’s clearest opportunity before halftime, his effort well saved from Thomas Strakosha. As a teammate staying deep, he was forced to stretch the play down the right side yet his deliveries into the box were inconsistent. Substituted late in the match. Six

Harry Kane The decisive figure with his 77th and 78th goals in an England shirt. The opener a typical opportunist's goal while the second a classy finish with his head after peeling away from his marker. Now 32, he’s only getting better and England have every chance in the upcoming tournament with him leading the line. 8/10

Eberechi Eze Found it tough to influence play on the left flank. Was presented with a presentable chance when set up by the midfielder however the keeper made the save. His replacement had a greater effect in his place. 5/10
