President Trump Calls Relatives of Attacked Military Members to White House
President Trump revealed on the weekend that he has asked the relatives of a National Guard member killed last week to attend the executive mansion.
He mentioned that he spoke to her family and they were “deeply grieving”.
Background on the Devastating Incident
US army specialist Beckstrom, twenty years old, was lost her life in a violent incident on Wednesday in DC.
Her fellow service member, Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, remains hospitalized in grave state.
Vigils across the state have taken place in their memory.
White House Call
The commander-in-chief stated he’s talked about a meeting at the presidential residence for the families of both soldiers of the state Guard.
“I said: ‘When you’re prepared, because that’s a difficult moment, visit the White House. We’re going to pay tribute to Sarah,” the president informed reporters. “And similarly with him, whether he recovers or not.”
Public Reaction
Mourners came together over the past few days at the high school in West Virginia to pay respects to Sarah.
Both the soldiers had been serving with the military unit as part of Trump’s federal initiative to assist public safety in Washington DC.
Paying Tribute to the Soldier
“She was the type of pupil that educators desired. She carried herself with quiet strength, a warm expression and a positive energy that inspired people around her,” the principal, the principal of her previous school, told the media. “She was kind, considerate and always willing to assist people.”
Memorial details for Beckstrom are still being arranged.
Judicial Steps and Government Revisions
Officials have indicted a 29-year-old suspect with one count of homicide and two counts of attempted murder while carrying a weapon.
The incident prompted the Trump administration to pause refugee claims and cease providing visas to owners of travel documents.
Condition of Wolfe
The airman, a native of the city, enlisted in early 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of Musselman high school, as reported by the Associated Press.
He remains under medical supervision and is “in a critical fight”, West Virginia leader Patrick Morrisey stated on a news program.
The state’s top lawyer the attorney general informed Fox News Sunday that she planned to meet with Wolfe’s family.
Impact of the Fallen Soldier
Beckstrom, from her hometown, graduated from her high school in June 2023 and joined the military shortly after, working as a MP with distinction, per the military.
“She had a lot of kindness and she certainly had bravery,” he addressed the audience at the memorial. “Though her time was cut short, she has made an impact that’s going to be remembered always.”
