Supporters Call for Arrest of Individual Who Touched Ariana Grande
Devoted followers of the actress are calling for that a person who leaped a barricade and grabbed the celebrity during the recent Wicked: For Good launch be taken into custody or expelled from Singapore.
A circulating video depicts the individual from Australia bypassing media personnel and rushing toward Grande while the performers made its way down a event pathway surrounded by supporters.
Co-star Cynthia Erivo promptly guided the stunned actress away from Mr Wen, who was spotted being led away of the premiere by security officers.
Mr Wen posted on Instagram Thursday evening that he was "released after being detained", though legal records showed that he was scheduled to attend court on the next day. It is unknown if he was faced legal action.
Record of Event Invasions
This is not the first time for Mr Wen, who describes himself as a "Controversial Figure", has disrupted a performance. His Instagram feed includes recordings of him disrupting other high-profile occasions, including jumping on stage at the pop singer's Sydney concert in recently and in a like fashion during The Chainsmokers event in the same location last December.
"Measures must be taken enforced against him as this is evidently a criminal offence," stated an Instagram commenter, in a response to a video Mr Wen uploaded of his act.
"You've done this repeatedly... how are you not behind bars?" another Instagram user remarked.
Followers Express Concern Over the Star's Well-being
Several supporters accused Mr Wen for "re-traumatising" Grande, who had spoken of suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder after a devastating incident at the end of her May 2017 show in Manchester, claiming the lives of 22 people and injuring many.
"The star has endured numerous terrifying experiences... including the Manchester tragedy, and you believed breaching security was amusing?" commented another message on Instagram.
Some supporters also questioned security officers at the Thursday event for not being adequately prepared; while different individuals called for social media platforms to ban Mr Wen's videos.
Aftermath and Event Details
In clips shared widely, Grande looked shocked when she was approached by the intruder. Her co-stars Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be spotted comforting her while Mr Wen was led out by staff.
Grande has not issued a statement on the event, and the rest of the event proceeded as normal.
Hundreds of attendees had gathered in a crowd of emerald and rose at the Wicked: For Good international premiere in a Singapore mall, including some who had queued for as long as many hours before it commenced.
The film, to be premiered on the 21st of November, is the sequel of a two-part adaptation of the acclaimed stage show Wicked, which revolves around the surprising friendship between two contrasting sorceresses.
The production itself is a derivative of the 1900 book The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who acts as the benevolent sorceress Glinda, was adorned in a champagne pink glittering gown at the gathering while Erivo, who acts as the villainous character, wore a sleek black dress decorated with roses.
They were accompanied by co-star Jeff Goldblum.
The previous installment, Wicked, was the most successful movie of last year in the UK, and earned ten Academy Award nods, winning several for excellent wardrobe and artistic direction.
